International Women’s Day

Some great lists of female-authored books, in honor of International Women’s Day:

  • VIDA, an organization that focuses on gaining critical attention for women’s writing, has a great list of life-changing books by women up at LitHub. The list features several books I’ve read and loved, including The Girls Who Went Away by Anne Fessler, Fun Home by Alison Bechdel, and Beloved by Toni Morrison.

Some female authors I love who aren’t on these lists: Shirley Jackson, Amy Hempel, Flannery O’Connor, Aimee Bender, Kyung-sook Shin, Paula Bomer, Karen Russell, Ruth Ozeki, and Donna Tartt.

Who are your favorite female writers? What are you reading in honor of International Women’s Day?
