Remembering Harper Lee


Rest in Peace, Harper Lee.

The loveliest, simplest tribute I’ve seen to her yet is this:

The graffiti artist Herb Williams has painted a mockingbird in the back alley behind Parnassus, my friend Ann Patchett’s Nashville bookstore.
Sometimes art is the only way to honor art.
Onward, and thank you, Ms. Lee, for what you gave us.
